7 tonnes of rotten meat destroyed in Ajman

Ajman - The municipality also approved 299 tonnes of meat which was found safe for consumption during the same period.

 The Ajman Municipality destroyed seven tonnes of rotten meat during the first quarter of 2016. The meat included lamb, beef, camel and goats which were found not compatible to health and food safety conditions set by the civic body.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Yahya Ibrahim Al Reyaysa, Director-General of Ajman Municipality, said that the health department at the municipality is very keen to ensure public health and prevent food poisoning by implementing health regulations.
Inspectors from the municipality's health department visit abattoirs every day to ensure they provide healthy meat for the consumers. The animals would be kept in the abattoir for 12 hours for checkups before slaughtering.
Al Reyaysa stressed that the municipality also spread awareness among public on the importance of slaughtering in the abattoirs to ensure a healthy process.
