Music season
There are so many performances! The Flag Island Amphitheatre in Sharjah will witness the opening ceremony of the Sharjah World Music Festival at 9pm on Friday with the exceptional voice of Faia Younan. She was recently named the Best Syrian Singer for 2018 at the German Daf Bama Music Awards.

A legend, or what? DSF is coming to a close and Lebanese superstar Elissa will be in the city on Friday to celebrate. Taking place at 9pm at Global Village, the singer will take to the park's main stage to perform all her hits including Ajmal Ihsas and Bastanak. The show is included in the Dh15 entry fee.

Enjoy the last of the spectacular firework displays by Al Zarooni Group taking place tonight, Friday and Saturday from 8pm at The Beach, 8.30pm at Al Seef and 9pm at La Mer, where the sky will be a canvas for the mesmerising colours.
Light Art DXB
Everyone still has a chance to see Light Art DXB; a breath-taking installation combining the elements of movement and light. Creating a dynamic environment from optimally placed giant mirrors, Light Art DXB bathes Downtown Dubai's Burj Park Plaza in a mesmerising kaleidoscope of light. The display of six dynamic sculptures, created through rotating mirrors and supported by a strategic placement of light, complements Burj Park Plaza as a reflection base for the Burj Khalifa.
Play's the thing
Who can resist a splash of culture in their lives? We know we always need topping up. Othello marks the first Shakespeare play to be staged at Dubai Opera in 2019. Following a critically-acclaimed tour and London run, Richard Twyman's energetic production of Othello will be performed nightly until February 2 to add world-class theatre to Dubai Opera's wide range of entertainment offerings. Tickets start from Dh150.

Celeb DJ Session
The Hideout will host British club DJ John Kelly at the Dubai Marina club tomorrow night.  John is recognised in the music world for being responsible for shaping the British dance scene in the late '80s and '90s. He has made a name for himself by playing at all the major UK clubs, including a residency at the famous Ministry of Sound in 1998, and bi-monthly appearances at Cream and The Arches in Glasgow. It's free entry and open till late.

The world-renowned DJ is back at Soho Garden for her second performance tonight. Combining keyboards, a drum pad and the theremin, her show is one not to be missed. Where: Soho Garden

Ukranian DJ Da Queen will be playing Iris Yas island's brunch on Friday. Her EDM brings all the peeps to the yard. What a day out to kick off the weekend.

Caribbean style
