India's ODI captain and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has thanked his fans for their tremendous support after bagging the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
Sharma, who arrived in the UAE along with his Mumbai Indians squad on Friday, won the award, India's highest sporting honour, along with Indian women's hockey team captain Rani Rampal, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, table tennis player Manika Batra and para-athlete Mariyappan Thangavelu.

The awards ceremony will virtually be held on August 29 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Hey guys. Thank you very much for all your well wishes and support throughout the year. It has been a wonderful ride," Sharma, who will head the Mumbai Indians' IPL title defence, said on his official Twitter handle, on Saturday.
"To receive such a sporting honour in India is a great privilege and I'm very happy about it. And I owe this to you all. Without your support, this wouldn't have been possible. So, keep at it, keep supporting and yes, I promise to bring many more laurels to the country. Since we are social distancing, a virtual hug from me to all you guys," he added.
Sharma had a breakthrough 2019 where he racked up 1,490 runs at an average of 57.30 in ODIs. He also clubbed five centuries to emerge as the highest run-getter with 544 runs.
Sharma, who was elevated to the opening role in Test cricket, accumulated 556 runs in five matches.
Sharma becomes the fourth cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar in 1997-98, MS Dhoni in 2007 and Virat Kohli in 2018, to be conferred the award.
The Mumbai Indians squad are staying at the St.Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi.
This season's IPL will be staged in the UAE from September 19 to November 10.
