Lamia Tariq Malallah, winner of the 2019 Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Award and the youngest Emirati Gymnast won yet another gold for the UAE at the Youth Cup Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship in Tashkent.
The championship was organised by the Gymnastics Federation of Uzbekistan. The Youth Cup Championship is a yearly Rhythmic Gymnastics which attracts elite gymnasts from Ukraine, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
This was the first time that a UAE national competed in this championship and won gold for the country.
Lamia, 8, training under World Champion Ksenia Dzhalaganiya competed in a category which included freehand (score 12.7) and hoop routine (score 9.10). Lamia accumulated the highest score of 21.8 among 15 girls in all around and individual categories.
Alexandra Stadden, representing the UAE also won gold in her age group 2009 in category B, which ensured the UAE a stronger representation in Uzbekistan.
