The reigning champions will clinch an unprecedented fourth successive English title if they win their last three matches
The UAE Under-19 squad are set to embark on a training camp to Croatia on Thursday to prepare for two important tournaments in Qatar and Bahrain, with an eye on the FIFA Under-20 World Cup Qualifiers.
The 27-member squad, coached by Czech Republic's Jacob Dovalel, will fly out to Croatia, for the camp, which will run until August 21. The squad will be tuning up for the Under-19 Gulf Cup of Nations to be held in Doha, Qatar, from August 24 to September 4 as well as the AFC Under-19 Championship slated to be held in Bahrain in October. The latter event serves as the qualifiers for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup to be held in Korea Republic in 2017. The top four teams from the AFC Under-19 Championship will qualify for Korea 2017.
The squad assembled at the UAE Football Association premises in Dubai on Wednesday for an internal camp.
The squad are set to play three friendlies against teams during the camp in Croatia.
"We have 27 players for the camp and the squad is coached by Jacob Dovalel, who is from the Czech Republic. He took over from Emirati coach Saleh Abdulla almost five months ago. The squad might play three friendlies during the camp," a UAE Football Association spokesman told the Khaleej Times on Wednesday.
"It is an important camp as the squad is preparing for the Under-19 Gulf Cup of Nations later in August and also the AFC Under-19 Championship to be held in Bahrain in October," the spokesman added.
The squad will remain in Croatia until August 21 before flying directly to Doha for the tournament.
