The activities of UAE Food Bank is going on in full swing during the Holy Month of Ramadan as this year the Food Bank is distributing more than 120,000 Iftar meals with the help of many sponsors and supporters.
"Our leadership has always underscored the importance of consolidating the values of giving and charity through various initiatives and activities. The UAE Food Bank is a true embodiment of these values in our society that acts through strengthening the principles of solidarity and unity among all segments of the society," said Dawoud Al Hajri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank.
"We always see excellent positive response to the activities and events of UAE Food Bank, especially in the month of Ramadan, which is the month of charity and blessing. UAE Food Bank is the best way to deliver the food needs of all the needy across the emirate, which contributes in bringing happiness and pleasure to them," he said.
Al Hajri pointed out the opening of five operational sites for UAE Food Bank recently, three locations in the Emirate of Dubai, one in Ras Al Khaimah and another in Ajman, in order to contribute to the promotion of charity work by using all efforts and energies to establish the concepts of participation and generosity in the human dimension.
Also this year the UAE Food Bank is conducting a food donation drive in collaboration with Lacnor and Oasis in various hypermarkets of Lulu, Choithram and Union Coop outlets in Dubai. In all, the donation drive is being conducted in 12 locations over the weekend (Thu-Fri-Sat) from 1pm to 10pm for the entire month of Ramadan.
The main objective is to promote volunteerism by encouraging various segments of the community to engage in UAE Food Bank campaigns and initiatives.
The UAE Food Bank partnered with Careem last year during Ramadan. With the massive response that we got last year from the public using Careem services to donate food, this year they have increased the timing from 11am to 5 pm, which last year was from 2pm to 5 pm.
In addition to that there are 80 UAE Food Bank fridges, with instructions on them, placed in different parts of Dubai for people to donate food during this holy month and year around.
The Food Bank's main sponsors include Sadia, Lacnor, Oasis, Farzana Trading, STC, West Zone and Intercat Catering, and the supporting sponsors include Procat Catering, Al Queim Kitchen, Nusret Restaurant, Make My Meal, Jaleel Traders, Al Kabeer, Kcal, Almarai, Abela & Co, Mellow Trading LLC, Barakat, Lulu, Choithram, Union Coop, Koitas, Al Ain Farms, Al Maya Trading, Farm Fresh, Awir Vegetable Market, Modern General Trading, Al Habtoor City and Trade Center.
