Video: Daughter tries to kill mother in hospital

A shocking footage of a Brazilian hospital shows a 32-year-old woman allegedly trying to suffocate her ailing elderly mother as she was 'tired of looking after her'.
The woman, Luciana Paula Figueiredo was arrested at the scene after she was filmed covering the nose and mouth of her mother Ana Benedita Figueiredo, 68, in her hospital bed. The video was reportedly recorded by other patients at the Dr Carlos Macieira Hospital in Sao Luis in the Brazilian state of Maranhao.
In the footage, the woman's hand appears to be choking her mother's nose and mouth with the bedding. At one point the elderly victim tries to lift her frail hand as if she is trying to remove her daughter's hand off her mouth and nose.
 
According to reports in Daily Mail, local media said the woman was charged with attempted homicide while her mother was taken to the intensive care unit. The elderly woman has been in hospital since January 19 after suffering a pulmonary embolism. 
It is reported that initial investigations suggest the daughter wanted to kill her sick mother because she was tired of looking after her. Cops are also ascertaining if the daughter tried to tamper with her mother's medication after they reportedly found a syringe in one of her bags.
Local superintendent Carlos Alessandro said: "The suspect claimed she 'had a normal relationship with her mother' and had 'put her hand on her mother's mouth with a different aim, that it had nothing to do with killing her'."
The woman has been kept in preventative prison and her lawyers claimed she had 'borderline personality order' and 'panic syndrome'.
