With many parts of the country affected by heavy rain and thunderstorms, the UAE minister of education Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi has announced that affected schools shall remain closed.
"It all depends on the situation at the school and the road leading to the school. This shall be done in coordination with the Emirates Transport," he added.
"All relevant powers have been given to the school principals to take the decision they deem fit in coordination with the school operations."

Affirming the same, Fawzia Hassan, the undersecretary of the ministry of education for operations sector, said that all the schools affected by the heavy rain and flooded valleys shall be closed on Monday.
"The decision applies to all schools that students and school buses cannot reach."
The ministry had earlier announced in October last year that each and every school is authorised to take whatever procedures it deems fit as and when needed to ensure students' safety in such cases, she underlined.
The recent showers have ended in the closure of some schools in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, particularly those close to the valleys and mountainous areas.
