UAE motorists urged to drive safely in wet conditions

Drivers have been advised to avoid speeding and overtaking other vehicles.

Commuters got stuck in traffic due to rain that hit several parts of UAE on Wednesday morning.
Dubai Police took to Twitter to report an accident on Al Khail Road near Dubai Financial Centre bridge towards Business Bay Crossing.

Dubai Police have urged motorists to drive safely during the rainy conditions and report an emergency via various government hotlines.
They have also been instructed to maintain a safe following distance and avoid applying brakes suddenly, to prevent the risk of skidding when roads are slippery.

Traffic jams seen across UAE after heavy rain
According to Google Maps data, slow moving traffic with heavy congestion was reported near Dubai Investments Park interchange towards Abu Dhab and on E44 Al Warqa road to Ras Al Khor area towards Dubai.
Meanwhile in Sharjah, huge tailbacks were observed on Sheikh Zayed Road's E11 - from Al Nahda street  towards Dubai.

On Tuesday, the road leading to Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the country, was shut down as heavy rainfall lashed Ras Al Khaimah, police said.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has also urged motorists to drive safely during the wet conditions. "If you must drive in rainy conditions, exercise caution on the road. Avoid speeding and overtaking other vehicles unless necessary, the RTA tweeted.

Abu Dhabi Police have also issued an advisory and tips for driving during unstable weather conditions in UAE.

Motorists had been advised to comply with the traffic rules and drive at a maximum speed of 80 kmph during the unstable weather.
