Students in the UAE have commended the state-of-the-art facial recognition system (FRS) introduced by India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Pupils studying in CBSE schools here have been making use of the new system, which does not require candidates to input their Aadhar or mobile number every time they need to download their mark sheets or documents for Grades 10 and 12.
A live image of the student is matched with the photograph on the CBSE admit card stored in the repository. Once successful, the certificate is emailed to the student.
Students using the system said it especially helps those studying outside India.
A DPS Dubai student, Aoishi Chakravarti, who recently used the FRS, said: “It uses smart technology. I sat in front of my laptop, filled in some details pertaining to admit cards, roll number and other primary details. Then the camera took a picture of mine and soon after I received a notification where I got my e-certificate and mark sheet via email.”
Another student of DPS Dubai, Mrunmayee Vichare, said: “The system is easy to access and the process is short and simple. It’s made it much easier for students to receive their certificates. I received mine immediately and faced no difficulties. Overall, I would say it’s a great improvement. I would like to use this in my Grade 12 as well.”
CBSE provides digital academic documents through its academic repository called ‘Parinam Manjusha’ and DigiLocker. The result data from 2004 to 2020 is also available in the repository. Approximately 120 million digital academic documents are available in the DigiLocker.
