5-year-old injured in Beirut blast can see again thanks to UAE drive

Abu Dhabi - During the explosion, the glass panes in her house shattered and one shard entered her left eye.

A five-year-old Syrian refugee living in Lebanon with her family lost her eyesight as an explosion ripped through Beirut in August. Now, thanks to the mother of the UAE, little Sama can see again.
An initiative by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, helped restore the little girl's eyesight.
Sama, who was playing in her modest house, was not expecting to become one the victims of the explosion that caused severe damage to the Beirut port. During the explosion, the glass panes in her house shattered and one shard entered her left eye, leading to loss of vision.
Sheikha Fatima's initiative covering the treatment and rehabilitation of people injured in the Beirut explosion included Sama. A prosthetic eye will help the child lead a normal life.
Sama's family thanked the UAE and Sheikha Fatima for her generous support and for covering the expenses of the treatment.
