As many as 22 workers were rescued by firefighters from a burning labour camp in Ras Al Khaimah's Al Uraibi area. None of the workers were hurt in the accident.
"The blaze damaged an air conditioner and some other belongings at the labour camp, which was gutted," a source said.
On being alerted about the fire, the central operations room of the RAK Police dispatched firefighters and rescue teams to the scene. The RAK firefighters cordoned off the site to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby camps.
All the 22 workers in the camp were immediately evacuated to safety, the source added.
Water and foam were used to put out the fire. Special machines were also used in sucking out the heavy smoke, sources pointed out.
