Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) Arabian Ranches, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi and Dubai English Speaking College are the top three schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, according to a recent report by schoolscompared.com, a sister site of WhichSchoolAdvisor.com.
The report - which was released on September 12 - named the 25 best schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The list, which only took into account the top 25 percent of schools searched for on SchoolsCompared.com, was "weighted heavily" on independent feedback from parents, teachers and students, as well as commendations from the editors of SchoolsCompared and WhichSchoolAdvisor.
A number of factors were taken into account, including facilities, the care of children, the caliber and strategic vision of leadership, engagement with parents, whole and individual child investment, as well as the "happiness we have found when we have visited schools and their performance and attainment."
The other schools in the top 10 are Kings School Al Barsha, Nord Anglia International School Dubai, British International School Abu Dhabi, the British School Al Khubairat, Jebel Ali School, Dubai College, and Raha International School.
JESS Arabian Ranches, the number one school in the rankings, is a "stellar school performing across the board."
"If we have to pick three things that make JESS absolutely stand-out, and our deserving Best School in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for 2017 it is, first, the value added it provides for all children in its inclusive open role. This is not a school that picks and chooses only the most academic children,' the report states. "Yet it achieves results that puts many selective schools to shame."
Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, for its part, is described as "a school that shines light on whole child development."
"The school tears up any rule book that says all that matters is league tables and breathes cultural life into every aspect of school provision," the report notes. "It does this better than almost any other school we can think of. The richness of its cross curricular activities, strength of innovation across the arts and its out reach to the community in which its sits is a case study for schools across the UAE.
The report, however, is careful to note that if a school doesn't appear in the list, "it does not intrinsically mean that the school is a poor one, or equally, not an outstanding one."
"It does not follow that because a school does not feature in our Best Schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for 2017 means that it will not feature in next year's top schools - or indeed that it is not a good or outstanding school in its own right," the report reads. "Again, it may be that school simply has not drawn sufficient interest across our site to enter the top 20 percent of traffic qualification to be considered."
