An Asian resident has been sentenced to two years in jail by the Ras Al Khaimah criminal court for attempting to kill his fellow workers and consuming alcohol in violation of law.
The defendant denied the attempted murder and told the court that he did not mean or plan to kill him. He added they were having a heated argument during which the victim allegedly insulted and used abusive words against him. However, he admitted to the charge of consuming alcohol in violation of law.
The defence lawyer requested the court to release his client whom he said did not intend or plan to kill the victim. He said the defendant was up in arms after the victim insulted his mother.
He pointed out that the alcohol level in the defendant's body was 180mm as per the lab report. "So he, and all those at the scene were totally drunk and unaware of their actions."
