A 25-year-old married woman and her 23-year-old boyfriend sustained severe burn injuries after the husband poured acid on the two as they were making love in a Sharjah apartment.
The 30-year-old Sri-Lankan man - identified as Prishni - was arrested at the airport while waiting for his flight to flee the country. The woman - identified as P.I - and her boyfriend - identified as Pradeep. K - have been admitted in the ICU of a hospital. They have suffered burns on their faces and some parts of their bodies.
The husband told the police that he could never imagine that his wife would cheat on him, as they have had a long courtship before they got married. However, he felt that his wife's behaviour had changed, of late. According to him, he recently travelled to his home country for family business which required him to stay there for around 20 days. However, one week after having reached there, while browsing the Facebook he spotted a photograph of his wife with another man. He decided not to call her and immediately flew back to Dubai, the man said. He added he stayed in a hotel and started monitoring the movements of his wife and her boyfriend.
He followed them when they entered an apartment while leaving the door opened. The man said he then entered the apartment, went straight into the bedroom and threw acid on them while they were indulged in love-making.
Police said that they received a call at the operation room from the duo asking for help. Police patrols, rescue units, CID officers and an ambulance reached the site. They shifted the two to the hospital - where they are being currently treated in ICU.
CID swung into action and initiated a probe, which led to the arrest of the husband at Sharjah international airport.
