The "awful breath" of a worker led to a Dubai mother discovering that he had molested her daughter on different occasions. After the mother served some leftover food to the worker, she came back to the car to see her daughter looking scared and uncomfortable. When she asked her what was wrong, the girl said the worker's breath was awful. When asked how she knew that, the girl said he had kissed her on the lips on two occasions.
The 46-year-old Indian worker, who molested the 5-year-old Iranian girl while she played outside her home, has been jailed for six months by a Dubai court. He will be deported at the end of the jail term.
Public prosecution records show the worker molested the girl while she played outside her house in Al Barsha. He is accused of kissing and hugging her several times on two different occasions. The victim's mother came to learn about the incidents on March 8.
The girl's father, a 44-year-old manager, said he was at his place at a residential complex on March 9 when he heard from his wife about what the accused did to their daughter. "My wife told me that she was with my sister and our girl in a car heading to a park at 6pm. She had driven there to give some leftover food to the worker."
After coming to learn about the molestation, the father talked to his daughter about it. "She confirmed that the worker had kissed her when she was with a neighbour's daughter near the parking lot. On March 13, my wife and I reported the worker to his foreman. The latter then brought him before us, and my girl identified him," the father told the prosecutor.
The family then went to the police station to lodge a complaint. "When our girl recounted what had transpired, she looked scared and refused to enter the same room where the defendant was. She only entered after he was taken outside," the father said.
The girl's mother said the victim did not inform them about the incident right away due to fear.
