A driver has been charged at a Dubai court after he allegedly assaulted two police officers.
The Court of First Instance heard the 52-year-old Pakistani man violently resisted the on-duty officers and damaged the police car.
He has been charged with physically assaulting two cops and damaging a public property.
The incident - which took place on February 15, this year - was registered at Al Qusais police station.
"At 11:30am, I received a call from the police station to return with my colleague there to take the accused and drop him at his car which he had left on the road. The latter had been booked the day before over a problem he had with another driver and which was settled at the police station," one of the officers said.
"We took him without handcuffs inside the police car. But during the journey, he kept screaming and kicking the metallic bar dividing the seats. He took shirts and bags containing traffic reports in the car and threw them on us. We pulled over and tried to put him under control but he kept kicking us."
The officers then called for a back-up. And the defendant kept resisting later but was eventually handcuffed.
A court ruling will be issued on April 29.
