A 21-year-old man stood trial at Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance for promoting hatred by posting a video inciting violence on his Instagram account.
The court heard that the Abu Dhabi Police had arrested the Arab youth after investigations revealed that he had posted the video in which he urged students of a school to attack their teachers if they were not happy with them.
Later, the police referred the man to the pubic prosecution, where he was charged with inciting violence and violating online laws - an act that disrupted public order.
Officers said they charged the man in accordance with Articles 1-7-18 / 2 of Federal Law No. 2 of 2015 on the fight against discrimination and hatred and Articles 41 and 46 of the Federal Law No. 5 of 2012 on combating online crimes.
The young man denied the charges when he appeared in court. The trial was adjourned to a future date.
