An expat has been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance after he allegedly blackmailed his ex-girlfriend with her private photos.
According to public prosecution records, the 33-year-old man, a Pakistani, threatened to post the photos on Facebook if she broke up with him.
The case dates back to July and was registered at Al Rafaa police station.
The complainant, a 47-year-old Filipina, said her friend had introduced her to the defendant. "We had an intimate relationship for months and he had taken inappropriate photos of mine."
She told the investigator that the accused kept those photos and threatened to send them to her husband and their friends.
To show her that he was serious about his threat, the accused set up a Facebook account in which he posted the photos.
The accused admitted to the charge during the police interrogation and the public prosecution investigation.
The photos have been attached to the case file.
The defendant is detained as he awaits a ruling that will be pronounced on September 22.
