A total of Dh144,000 has been contributed to 120 orphans by the Umm Al Quwain Charity Association.
The gesture is part of the organisation's effort to mark the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, according to a senior official.
Sheikh Marwan bin Rashid Al Mualla, chairman of the association, said the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayan has set a shiny example in giving.
"It is our duty to show sympathy to vulnerable segments of the society, particularly the orphans."
Foodstuff, new clothes and cash gifts have been contributed to the listed orphans, he explained.
"The Umm Al Quwain Charity Association runs an array of charity projects for the benefit of orphans here.
"School fees, treatment, regular allowances, foods, and stationery are distributed as per need. The public is urged to chip in such charity projects and show compassion to those disadvantaged kids," he urged.
