TheDubai Municipality has issued a notice to all building consultancy and general contracting companies in the emirate making it mandatory for them to apply the new e-building control system.

The circular also informs customers about that the civic body’s construction auditing services on industrial buildings will stop.

The Director of the Building Department Khalid Mohammed Salah said in a press statement that the new move comes out of the Municipality’s keenness to transfer all engineering supervision services to an online portal and ensure zero office visits.

Commencing fromMay 1, the Department will not receive applications for structural checking services for concrete pouring, completion certificate, temporary water and electricity supply services, change of contractor, change of consultant, deposit refund of building, except through new e-control system.

It is up to the consultancy companies to ensure the all technical criteria and specifications as well as engineering principles and plans approved by the civic body are strictly followed in construction projects.

Consultancy companies should carry out engineering supervision of all type of construction, licensed by the municipality, such as new construction, addition, changes, maintenance and decoration.

The official said the Municipality has prepared trained employees to provide support on the new system to customers at its Al Karama and Umm Ramool centres.

The Department has also provided a handbook for customers to guide them on how to easily use the new e-system and the civic body is continuing its training programmes on the new system. It is now ready to receive online applications for training from newly licensed companies.
