Nation offers prayers for rain

ABU DHABI - A large number of faithful offered prayers for rain (Salat Al Istisqa) across the UAE on Saturday, in line with the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In Abu Dhabi, citizens and residents congregated at the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque to offer the prayer invoking God Almighty in supplication for rains.

Shaikh Ali Al Hashimi, Religious and Judicial Adviser at the Presidential Court, led the prayers and gave a sermon, in which he said that no trial will descent without a sin as it will not be lifted without repentance.

The prayers were offered in various mosques in Abu Dhabi and the suburbs.

In Sharjah, His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, offered prayer for rain at the Al Badie prayer grounds on Saturday morning. A number of Shaikhs, senior officials and a large number of worshipers including citizens and residents also joined the Ruler in the prayers.

Shaikh Abdullah Mohammed Al Hamadi led the prayers, after which he gave a sermon calling on the people to deepen their faith in God and ask for forgiveness for any sins.

In Ras Al Khaimah, His Highness Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, offered prayer at the Grand Eid prayer yards in Khazam.

A number of Shaikhs, senior officials and a large number of worshippers joined the Ruler. Shaikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Shehhi led the prayers. In his sermon, he urged the people to strengthen the faith through righteous deeds and prayers.

In Ajman, His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, offered prayer at the Eid prayer grounds, accompanied by a number of Shaikhs, senior officials and worshippers. Shaikh Nashwan Al Hashimi, who led the prayers, called on the people to get closer to God through piety, virtue and relentless worship in his sermon.

In Fujairah Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, offered prayer for rain at the Omer bin Abdelaziz Mosque. Shaikh Abdullah Al Sa’adi led the prayers, after which he gave a sermon calling on the people to purify their hearts through piety and ask for mercy from God Almighty.

In Umm Al Qaiwain, Shaikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Qaiwain, offered prayer at the Eid prayer grounds in the emirate.

Shaikh Ibrahim Al Mansouri led the prayers, and in his sermon after that, he urged the people to do righteous deeds and abandon what God has prohibited in the worldly life.

Shaikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region, offered prayer at the Eid prayer yard in Zakhir area in the city of Al Ain.

Imam Shaikh Nasser Al Shibli led the prayers.
