Trio held for stealing tyres from parked cars in Dubai

Dubai - According to the charge sheet, the accused stole the tyres and then sold them at scrap shops.

The Dubai public prosecution has referred three Asians to trial at the Court of First Instance for stealing tyres of two cars parked in an unpaved yard in an industrial area.
Counsellor Khaled Salem Al Alawi, senior chief prosecutor at Bur Dubai prosecution, called the court to inflict the strictest penalties possible on the trio, given the fact they carried sharp tools that could be used as weapon, at the time of the theft. "There could not have been any justification for them to carry the sharp tools other than stealing and scaring away the victims and anyone who might even think of stopping them or helping the victims," said counsellor Al Alawi.
The senior chief prosecutor pointed out that the fact the thieves carried the sharp tools is an offence that invites severe penalties. He charged the trio with theft at night with the use of sharp tools, as per the UAE Federal Penal Code and its modifications.
According to the charge sheet, the accused stole the tyres and then sold them at scrap shops.
They admitted during investigation they had planned to steal tyres of cars owned by a private firm.
They targeted cars which were left parked unwatched and away from sight.
The defendants confessed that two of them watched out while their accomplice stole the tyres with special tools they had brought with them.
One of them was referred in absentia to stand trial.
