To ease the compliance burden, several exemptions and relief measures have been introduced
In a humourous response to the hundreds of tweets from Dubai students on Sunday night as to whether schools would be closed due to the recent heavy rains, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) conjured up the perfect reply to the cheeky requests via Twitter.
Tweeting from its official handle, @KHDA said: "Schools open as usual tomorrow, unless you have a doctor's note that says you're made of sugar and will dissolve if you get wet."
This latest move by the KHDA has perfectly showcased the lighter side to its work, and it has left a lot of smiles, on a lot of faces.
"@KHDA I am loving this account more and more," @karim_alk99 tweeted, while fellow Twitter user, @amritasharmi said: "@KHDA u r rocking".
Despite launching many official initiatives aimed at promoting happiness in schools -- including the announcement of a Happiness Census last week -- the Dubai-based education authority is unofficially going above and beyond to keep students in high spirits.
In addition to its funny tweet on Sunday, KHDA followed up on Monday with the creation of its 'Made of Sugar' survey, wherein students were urged to "pre-register" their requests for a day off next time the heavens open up.
In it, the opening line read: "Why wait till it's raining to ask us to take the day off school? By filling in this form, you can pre-register your request so that next time we spot a drop or two, we'll have you covered!"
