Indian expats in the UAE will join the Diwali celebrations (festival of lights) held under the patronage of the Consulate-General of India in Dubai at the Etisalat Academy on Friday.
The mega event titled Diwali Utsav 2018, which is being organised by the Friends of India (FOI) Events, will witness a spectacular exhibition of lights, music and festive activities. It will also highlight traditional old games of India and rangoli competitions in which more than 100 teams will be participating.
In a message, Indian Consul-General Vipul said: "I am happy that we are supporting Friends of India in organising a big Diwali function on October 26. This event has also been held very successfully for the past few years with participation of hundreds of Indians. I wish all Indians in the UAE a very happy festival season and encourage them to participate in the festivities with great enthusiasm. This year's festivities also assume importance as we are observing 100 years of Sheikh Zayed and 150 years of Gandhiji. Both these leaders have taught how humanity should work together and live in peace, harmony and tolerance."
The major highlight of the event will be the live performance by India's award winning singer Naresh Iyer, along with Bennet and Band from 8.30pm.
Traditional Indian food stalls will offer guests mouthwatering dishes and snacks, said the organisers.
