As many as 100 prisoners who have completed their jail terms at the Ajman Central Jail will now be able to fly back home after Malabar Gold and Jewellery sponsored their flight tickets. The initiative is part of the UAE marking 2017 as the Year of Giving.

Lt-General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, expressed his appreciation for the company's gesture that will help facilitate the repatriation of the prisoners.

He said the company offered its "generous support" due to its sense of responsibility towards the needy. "The company is known for its support to various sectors such as health, education and environment."

Lt-General Sheikh Sultan honoured Shamlal Ahamed, general manager of international operations at Malabar Gold and Jewellery, with an Ajman Police shield in recognition of the company's support and cooperation with the police.

Ahmed said this initiative shows the "extent of friendship and compassion" among the people of different communities in the UAE in helping the needy and those who have financial difficulties.

"We are happy to cooperate with the Ajman Police to support the needy inmates by repatriating them to their countries in peace."
