Wisdom Academy (WA) A defeated Blue Rhine Eagles 65-63 in a closely contested men’s division league match of the 7th Indian Basketball League at Salah Al Deen Indoor Hall on Friday, a media release said.

WA led 14-9 in the first quarter and trailed 30-31 against Blue Rhine after the first half.

WA scored 20 against 14 in the third quarter and fought a valiant game in the last quarter.

Baven, the top scorer of the match with 25 points who excelled with his accurate jump shots accumulated his five personal fouls in the last quarter and his exit cost Blue Rhine Eagles dear.

The Eagles scored 18-15 in the last quarter. Subin top scored for WA with 13 points followed by Jean Manaloor 12 and Kunal Vohra 10 points. Titan-Dubai overpowered last year’s runners-up Nucaf Beatrice-Dubai 60-46. Titan led 34-30 at half time.

In the under 19 boys Inter School Division, an addition this year to the long drawn two-month programme, NIMS-Sharjah and DPS-Sharjah came out victorious.

NIMS beat ENS 65-44 and DPS overcame Our Own High School-Al Warqa 45-31. For NIMS-Sharjah Abhil Dev Arun top scored with 23 points followed by Muneer Mohammed 16 points.

Aamir top scored for ENS with 18 points. Karun Kumar 15, Prateek and Adeeb 10 points each were the main scorers for DPS-Sharjah. Ameer Ashraf 12 and Akshay Prasanth 10 were the main scorers for Our Own-Warqa.

In women’s action Manipal Falcons defeated Our Own English High School-Dubai 28-15.

Klarissa Crasto excelled for Falcons with 11 points.
