Sickel sizzles in 4x4 Figme

Stefan Sickel, the towering 6’ 7” golfer playing off a 4 HCP from 7/8 allowance individual stable ford format has manoeuvered his way in the fast greens of Al Hamra Golf Club beating 50 competitors last Friday.

His gross score of 76 and 37 stable ford points was pivotal in getting his first championship in Figme events for the past 4 years.

In close contention is Ibrahim Baggash (19) losing from a count back. His efforts catapulted him as the runaway winner in the Gold Division (HCP 14 – 25).

Ramon Battung (11) emerged as the winner in Platinum Division (HCP 0 – 12) with 36 points, followed by David Hadley (7) and Arnel Pabitu (8) with 35 pts a piece, the former winning in a better back nine.

Hadley a long hitter won the longest drive with 320 yards in hole 9 finishing off a birdie 3 with 150 yards left.

The hotly contested Gold division saw three players tied at 31 points but Larry Mendoza (13) emerged as 1^st Runner up, Monina Gudaca and Garreth Estment trailed as 2^nd & 3^rd respectively.

A separate division (silver) for a group of eight neophytes with 26 / 23 HCP was contested and Mark Rogers garnered 20 pts and John Aradani as runner up with 16 pts.

Reynold Castro got the most golf with 6 points.

Ramon Navea, Figme chairman along with the officers conceptualized this creative FIGME initiative which encourages new members to motivate themselves to improve and play better in each tournament.

Highlight of the FORE x FOUR events is the handover of the chequered jacket to the Order of Merit (OOM) 2011 winner Arnel Pabitu.

Winners were awarded with vouchers from Seawings, Asiana Hotel VIP suite accommodation, F&B vouchers, complimentary Golf game from Al Hamra Golf Club, branded watches & golf sun glasses.
