PLC honours jiu jitsu champs

The Professional League Committee (PLC) honoured the UAE jiu jitsu champions during the Al Ain v Al Jazira clasico round 19 match at Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium in Qattara.

The ceremony included a show presented by some of the jiu jitsu exponents who demonstrated their technical and physical capabilities before taking some photos in the presence of Dr Nasser Salem Al Ameri, member of the Board of Directors of the Professional League Committee (PLC).

Dr Al Ameri assured the importance of honouring the jiu jitsu champions in the UAE, saying that the Committee bears in mind its participation and influence in many of the events taking place in the UAE, through the games organised by the Committee in various tournaments.

He added: “The champions were honoured as recognition from the Professional League Committee (PLC) to the importance of what has been achieved in the jiu jitsu sport in the presence of a big mass of fans who packed Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium in Qattara.

“It is worth mentioning that jiu jitsu saw a quality move in spite of its modernity, and was also given backing interest by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Shaikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Presidential Aviation in Abu Dhabi and the efforts of the wrestling, judo and jiu jitsu federations chaired by Mohammed bin Thaloub.”
