Jiu-jitsu in the UAE was a given a solid boost on Monday when the national federation signed a a MoU with Palms Sports for a three-year period in which the latter will continue to act as the technical arm of the federation. Announcing this at a media conference on Monday were Colonel Abdel Munem Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jisu Federation (UAEJJF), and Hamad Khalfan Al Shamsi, Palms Sports.
With its international experts, coaches, and referees exceeding the 400-strong marker, Palms Sports will oversee the plans drawn by the federation to expand the base of the game in the country.
They will manage the training centers affiliated with the federation, as well as the school programme supported by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Palms Sports has assisted in the formation of a Rules Committee that will support the federation in regulating the sport and developing and updating its rules.
The company also plays a key role in developing outstanding talent in the game, as well as training programmes for the UAE National Team.
Colonel Al Hashemi expressed his appreciation and extended his gratitude to General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed, for his continued patronage for the sport. He added: “Palms Sports will continue with us as we move from a stage where we have laid the foundation to the next stages where we will grow further to reap the rewards.”
