Dubai — Danube’s Jebel Ali Dynamos overcame the challenge of AAJ’s Downtown Strikers to win the Conares Mirchi Premier League cricket title.
The Jebel Ali lads who took home a winners’ cheque of Dh25,000, sent in Downtown who were rattled from the start in the summit round. Two of their four pairs ended in minus scores and Downtown ended with a paltry two in eight overs.
Kamal Kuruppu from Jebel Ali was named the Man of the Series for his all-round performance. Rohan Nayak from Downtown took the Best Batsman award while Syed Mohammad Faizan from Qusais went home with the Best Bowler award. The Amity Rising Star award was presented to Jay Joshi from Downtown.
“It has been a privilege to participate in such a league. From the concept to the execution, it has been well done. It threw a new challenge as we were only permitted to choose three players of our choice and the remaining from an auction. The team I picked responded well. I am extremely proud of these players,” Anis Sajan, owner of the Jebel Ali team, told Khaleej Times.
“The response has been fantastic. All team owners, sponsors, players and well-wishers have been extremely supportive which helped us deliver a successful event.
The next season will have an enhanced concept,” Manish Kishore, the initiator of the league said. Prize support for the event came from Danube Home, PNG Jewellers and Vatika.
