Zelensky calls on Western allies to supply Kyiv with additional air defence systems to protect Kharkiv and other cities
Spread over 33,000sqm of gross leasable area and situated on Al Maryah Island just across the capital, The Galleria, a project of Gulf Related and Mubadala, features over 100 of the world’s most famous brands, all new to Abu Dhabi.
Kevin Ryan, managing director of real estate development at Gulf Related, did not disclose the investment put into the mixed-use realty project, which includes two grade-A multi-storied towers; a commercial and furnished apartments tower; and Rosewood and Four Seasons hotels under construction. However, he estimated that with new brands that are coming to Abu Dhabi, hundreds of millions of dollars will be coming into the city as foreign direct investment.
Ryan said 90 per cent of the outlets were opened on the first day, while the remaining 10 per cent would open soon. In a city where a good number of people leave to spend weekends on Thursdays in other cities, he said this shopping arcade will provide a nice destination for shopping and dining. On the preview, he said people welcomed the new destination and the concept.
The Galleria boasts waterfront views across the Abu Dhabi cityscape. Ryan expected a footfall of five to eight million in one to three years from now, hoping to stablise in the second year. Al Maryah Island is home to the capital’s new Central Business District, where Abu Dhabi’s first financial free zone, Global Market, will be located. The Galleria forms phase one of Sowwah Square that is made up of four commercial towers, along with the iconic Exchange Building and two hotels.
In addition, National Bank of Abu Dhabi and Al Hilal Office headquarters, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and FarGlory’s mixed-use hotel, residential and office development are situated on Al Maryah Island. Fifty brands have chosen to open their first stores in the capital, including Aspinal of London, Berluti, Boucheron, Celine, Diane von Furstenberg, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs, Mulberry, Paul Smith and Tory Burch. Other brands include Alexander McQueen, Moschino, Thomas Pink, Pucci, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Pomellato, Emporio Armani Caffe, Almaz by Momo and Magnolia Bakery.
Ali Eid AlMheiri, executive director of Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure, said: “Al Maryah Island was created to be the center of business and commerce for the evolving Abu Dhabi.”
Kenneth A. Himmel, co-managing partner of Gulf Related and president and chief executive officer of Related Urban, said: “We look forward to building on the success of The Galleria with Sowwah Central which will open in 2017 and when combined, will offer over 500 retail, leisure, dining and entertainment options.”
The Galleria also offers an array of culinary diversity. Those who were open on the first day included Almaz by Momo and Emporio Armani Caffé that offer breath-taking views of Abu Dhabi’s skyline.
