Al Maya Group announces participation in Gulfood 2012

DUBAI — The Al Maya Group will participate in the Middle East’s premier food and beverage show, Gulfood, according to the company.

The four-day exhibition will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 19-22. The Al Maya Group will be exhibiting in Hall No. 7.

The Al Maya Group has over 35 supermarkets/hypermarkets, of which 31 are in the UAE It has a very strong presence in the country’s retail sector.

“We have a big set-up of warehousing with around one million sqft area to stock food and non food items being imported from various parts of the world to cater to the needs of our valued customers and a fleet of around 250 vehicles for wholesale distribution to major retailers,” group operations director Kamal Vachani said in a statement.

The group, which is completing 30 years of operations in the Middle East, has become one of the largest FMCG marketing and distribution companies.

Its trading division carries several category leading brands in food and beverages such as Diamond, American Garden, Pocari Sweat, Oranamin C, Heinz, Koka, Purefoods, Kawan and others, which have dominated their respective categories for a long time.

“These brands have maintained their leadership position in spite of the advent of many competing brands. This speaks volumes of the inherent strength of the brands as well as the skill, commitment and expertiseof the Group,” Vachani said.

The trading division has recently expanded its product portfolio with the addition of several new brands such as Horlicks biscuits and Foodles, RRO Edible oil range, MTR Foods, Govardhan ghee, Bajaj Savory and others, all of which have a tremendous potential in this market. Several other launches are in the offing in the coming months.
