The work from home (WFH) option which was earlier considered to be niche choice for some of the employees in IT sector is now witnessing robust usage across all the sector. WFH implementation has witnessed a boost in productivity and efficiency while ensuring reduced carbon emissions and cleaner air.
The new policy is now looked upon by each and every organisation as a key opportunity to boost employee morale thereby increasing business revenue. WFH has not only helped businesses to cut costs on employees in the offices but also promoted a balanced work culture. HR experts and specialists are now sensing this as an opportunity as one of the main focus areas to promote employee well-being apart from promoting talent and thus helping the businesses to sustain in a volatile and competitive market.
Work from home option even after the lockdown restrictions ease up would help a lot of employees. Moreover, it would lead to lesser traffic in cities due to reduced mobility. Employees can save time and energy avoiding the busy and time-consuming commute to work everyday and instead use that time and energy for better productivity at work.
The new work pattern has created a furore of opportunities to work remotely thereby benefiting both the employees and employers. Hence until the pandemic settles down, WFH option should be exploited to its fullest extent and allow optimum utilisation of talent and skills contributed by employees to the business.  -Varun Dambal, Bangalore
