Invest in employees for healthy work atmosphere

There have been a lot of chit-chat about employees and working conditions. Last year the theme was all about tolerance. This year I hope it's something to do with the welfare of the employees. The reason why I emphasise this is not many employees have a great time at work. We hear of redundancies; salaries not being paid on time; poor working conditions; no benefits or salary increase. The list goes on. Every company invests a lot of money on employees but if employees do not get what they want then at the end of the day the company suffers as well as the employees themselves. Poor work-life balance, poor management, lack of growth and support, training - all these are major reasons why employees these days are leaving the company.
When employees gain nothing but just come to work just because they have to, companies suffer. Employees lose trust and confidence which can hamper their self-esteem.
However, I must say that there are a lot of good employees who give their heart and soul for the company but then office politics takes them for a toss.
To smooth the functioning of an organisation, the employer should ensure the safety and security of his employees. Health and safety form an integral part of work environment. A work environment should enhance the well-being of employees and thus should be accident-free.
All this boils down to the management. If they are interested they will do anything to look after the employees, listen to them, coach them, train them and motivate them to take part in company activities. We spent most of our lives at work, so use the hours wisely and fruitfully.
