A farmer in China has invested 2.6 million yuan (Dh1.4 million approx) to build a life-size model of an Airbus A320.
Zhu Yue chased his childhood dream to own an airplane and set out to build a passenger jet which is now in its finishing stage. According to reports in Shanghaiist, the garlic farmer has been busy for the last two years in building an airplane replica with a little help from friends.
The aircraft is being built at a factory in an industrial park, is a 1:1 scale model of the plane - which is about 124-foot-long, 118-foot wide, and 40-foot high, reported The Sun. "I was a farmer before and later engaged in different businesses, and I just want to realise my dream now that I am richer," Zhu was quoted as saying in The Sun.
He started building the model in October 2016 and spent three months preparing, studying, and dismantling models before finally starting to build his plane. Although Zhu might never be able to fly the plane, the model is nothing less than a real aircraft and even has an engine turbine that rotates.
Once the plane is completely ready, Zhu plans to turn it into a restaurant. "Right now, I just want to finish it, but I will probably open a restaurant or hotel in the plane."
