In an interesting turn of events, a thief in the Philippines was caught after his victim traced him in the most peculiar way.
According to the Filipino Times, the victim was walking along a road when her phone was snatched. The victim's daughter narrated that her mom alerted her of the theft. She then tried to help her mother out by tracking the stolen phone's location using an app. "I tried tracking the phone but to no avail, the thief was able to reset the phone which disables tracking," she said.
The mother and daughter duo thought the phone would be lost forever when they found it being sold online by the suspect. They posed as buyers and decided to meet the culprit.
Police waited till they confirmed his identity then arrested him. When asked about how he came to possess the stolen phone, Richardson Garcia claimed that he found the phone elsewhere. He also denied stealing it from anyone.
The victim opted not to press charges against Garcia after the suspect's mother appealed to her.
