Man lands in hospital after sniffing his own socks

A man was hospitalised with a severe fungal infection after sniffing his own socks.
The unidentified Chinese man would sniff his socks every day after coming home from work and changing his office wear.
The man, as a result, caught an infection from a fungus developed in his footwear. It had spread to his lungs.
According to the Metro, he was admitted as an emergency case in the hospital in Zhangzhou.
The infection was confirmed through an x-ray. The doctors have said that the infection has been caused by frequent sniffing of his socks.
"People with a foot fetish have been known about for many years although fascination with socks is less well known," the newspaper report said.
