A 20-year-old student died after he was caught under the wheels of a car and dragged nearly a kilometre by the vehicle in Mohali, police said.
Gurjot Singh, who studied hotel management at a private university at Landran in Mohali, was declared brought dead by doctors at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), they said.
Singh, a resident of Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, was hit from behind by the car bearing the registration number of Chandigarh on Saturday, when he and his two friends were returning from their college on a motorcycle.
Singh's two friends fell from the motorbike following the accident, but he was caught under the wheels of the car.
A video made by a person in a vehicle that followed the car, showed Singh stuck in the wheels and being dragged for about a kilometre.
Manjit Singh, the station house officer of Balongi Police Station, said the driver of the vehicle would be traced soon.
