A 26-year-old woman was miraculously saved, although she suffered serious injuries, after a parked truck rolled down a hill and landed on her car, almost flattening it.
The incident took place in South Africa's Port Elizabeth when the truck's driver got off to pick his children up from school. According to reports in BBC, the unmanned truck rolled down the hill and smashed into the woman's Opel Adam car.
The woman was trapped inside the wrecked car for nearly 40 minutes and was taken to hospital with multiple injuries, including fractures, paramedics said. "The truck was squashing both her and her car. Parts of it had to be cut off in order to free her," Shawn Herbst, a spokesman for Netcare 911 ambulance services said.
While the truck driver, who has not been named, is being investigated for reckless and negligent driving. "When he returned to his truck, he noticed it was no longer parked where he had left it. He then noticed that the truck had rolled forward and collided with an Opel Adam," police spokeswoman, Sandra Janse van Rensburg, told local newspaper HeraldLive.
