Acclaimed musician Sriram Parasuram will be conducting a workshop from February 24 to 28 at Mayyavi Dance Academy in Karama, giving music enthusiasts the chance to understand the nuances of concert playing and other techniques.

The workshop will also be covering topics like voice culture, Raga Expression, Swaras and Taal understanding.

Parasuram received the President of India’s award for Carnatic and Hindustani Music in 1986 and he has been awarded the Ph.d in World Music from the US. Besides classical music, Parasuram has made many successful forays into the fields of jazz and pop music. As a composer and singer, his Hindi pop album Savariya received rave reviews and was awarded the Screen Videocon award for Best Composer and Best Album in 2000. In a unique project in 2005, Sriram Parasuram directed and performed with an ensemble giving live background score for the landmark 1924 silent film on Gautama Buddha, The light of Asia.
