Fresh signs of a cooling economy calmed inflation worries
GOLF AND GLAMOUR will come together when the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship returns to the capital later this month.
The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and title sponsor HSBC are planning an exciting Friday of women-only activities for this year’s championship, which runs from January 16-19 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Lady Championship-goers will enter free on January 17 at the golfing showpiece which has once again attracted some of the sport’s biggest names, including Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson.
Ladies are being encouraged to ‘dress to the nines’ as fashion scouts will roam the course hunting for the ‘Best Dressed Lady’. This year’s stylish winner will take home an all-inclusive trip-of-a-lifetime for two to Bangkok, courtesy of Championship partners Etihad Airways and The St. Regis Saadiyat Island. The fashion scouts will look for ladies who exude their own sense of personal style, glamour and confidence, like last year’s winner, Emily Fleet (pictured).
At Yas Links Golf Club, another signature Abu Dhabi course, six-time Ladies European Tour winner, Catriona Matthew will tee-off the Ladies Day’s activities when she hosts a morning golf clinic. Scottish professional Matthew, who has four LPGA tour wins under her belt, will host the clinic exclusively for members of Abu Dhabi golf clubs who will gain exclusive tips and advice from Matthew, who won last September’s Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open.
Dailly passes are available for Dhs50 (Dhs150 for four-day pass) online from www.abudhabigolfchampionship.com and www.ticketmaster.ae. Guests staying at any Abu Dhabi hotel over the championship period enter free.
