UAE riders shine

DUBAI — UAE and Saudi Arabia riders tasted success at the ongoing Ain International Show Jumping Championship, being organised by the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club.

UAE riders emerged winners taking the title of the first round and winning the second, fifth and sixth places. The heights of the barriers in this round varied between 120 to 130 centimeters with dedicated awards amounted to Dh40,000. The titles of the second and third rounds were bagged by Saudi Arabia riders. Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi from UAE emerged winner of the first round and won Dh10,000, followed by his countryman Ali Abdullah Al

Kumati who won Dh8000. Meshary Al Humaid Al Harbi from Saudi Arabia came third to win Dh6000, followed by Abdul Rahman Al Raji (KSA, Dh4400)and UAE’s Sultan Al Muhairi (Dh3200) and Adil Khamis (Dh2800).

Prince Abdullah bin Moteb Al Saud (KSA) bagged the title of the second round to claim Dh14000 and Syrian rider Ahmed Hamcho finished as runner-up to get Dh11000. Abdul Rahman Al Habsi (UAE) came in the third place to win an award of Dh8500, followed by compatriot Mohammad Ketait who got Dh6000 and Cian O’Connor (Ireland, Dh4500).

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council, Chairman of Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, more than 150 male and female riders representing 24 countries are taking part in this three-day event, which will conclude on Friday night.

The participating countries are Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Ireland, Italy, Britain, USA, France, Romania, Bolivia, Portugal, Iran and hosts UAE.
