“We are glad to be a part of this ambitious plan of the Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival to bring all those involved in protecting the Purebred Arabians on a common platform and discuss its future and growth,” said WJ de Ruiter, the president of the Dutch Arabian Racing Corporation, at the press conference at Emirates Palace.

“This prestigious conference will be followed by a race meeting exclusively for the Purebred Arabians with the highlight being the Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup on June 19,” he said.

The conference is again set to bring together more than 20 IFAHR member countries to discuss ways and means to protect the Purebred Arabians besides the breeding, racing and training of the species, as well as the future of Arabian racing.

“Abu Dhabi has set a new precedent and we hope this is the best way to bring all member countries together and create a strong forum for the Arabian horse,” said Sami Jassim Al Bunain, the chairman of International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing (IFAHR). “For their pioneering efforts to promote Arabian racing around the globe, we have unanimously elected Sheikh Mansour Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival as an honorary member of the IFAHR.”

Lara Sawaya, the director of the Sheikh Mansour Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival, who will represent the organization at IFAHR, said the idea was to build a strong base of those institutions and individuals with interest in the Arabian horse.

“I am also delighted to announce that the first-ever book on the Purebred Arabian race series will be published and distributed by us. This publication will reflect the success of the Shaikh Mansour Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s race series and the huge benefits derived from the Arabian Racing Conference.

“The book will not only serve as a record of events and achievements but will be an informative endeavour that will go a long way in boosting the image of Purebred Arabian horses. The book is an innovative addition to the activities of the Sheikh Mansoor Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival.

“The calendar for the Sheikh Mansoor Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup races for 2011 will be announced from the festival’s stand at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair in April.”

The press conference was attended by Abdulla Al Qubaisi, director of communications of ADACH, Essam Abdulla of the EAHS, Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, secretary general of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Talal Al Hashimi of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Declan Hegarte, the managing director of HSBC, Kevin Bowey of Invest AD and Ali Al Mulla of Areej Al Ameerat.
