In their heyday, Henry ‘Razor’ Sharp (Stallone) and Billy ‘The Kid’ McDonnen (De Niro) were at the top of their game – with the Pittsburgh pugilists squaring off in two highly publicised fights. However, as the deciding match drew near, Razor shocked the boxing world by announcing his sudden retirement – enraging his opponent and mystifying everyone else.

Many decades later, The Kid runs a successful car dealership and restaurant while Razor scrapes a living working in a shipyard. After being offered a big payday to appear in a new boxing video game, Razor begrudgingly accepts – only to run into his old rival. When the bitter enemies come to blows, the clip goes viral online.

Wannabe promoter Dante Slate Jr. (Hart) convinces the elderly pair to fight in one final bout to settle their differences once and for all, much to the horror and amusement of the boxing world.

Celeb Trivia

After amassing seven UK top 10 singles between 1988 and 1991, British house act The KLF had money to burn – quite literally.

The London duo, comprising Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, were known for their strange and anarchic temperaments.

But after being named the biggest-selling singles act in the world for 1991, off the back of hits like Justified and Ancient, the band suddenly announced their retirement from the music business. The KLF made good on their word in May 1992, deleting their entire back catalogue in the process.

Drummond and Cauty then stirred up even more confusion and controversy in what proved to be their most infamous stunt of all. On August 23, 1994, acting on behalf of their art collective The K Foundation, the pair travelled to the small Scottish island of Jura, where they burnt one million pounds in 50-pound notes inside a disused boathouse.

The act was turned into a film and generated huge public discussion and criticism. After years of remaining unrepentant on the matter, Drummond finally conceded in a 2004 interview with the BBC, “It’s a hard one to explain to your kids and it doesn’t get any easier. I wish I could explain why I did it so people would understand.”
