The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) will organise the seventh
Al Manaar Forum to highlight the capabilities of people with visual impairment and ways to support them.
The forum will be held on November 8 in Dubai and will be attended by senior officials, intellectuals and people who are visually impaired.
Major-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of GDRFA-Dubai, said the objective of the forum is to educate the UAE community to deal with people with visual disability in the right way; and to highlight the capabilities and accomplishments of the individuals with visual disability. GDRFA Dubai has 20 employees with disabilities.
Major-General Al Marri said the GDRFA Dubai is working in line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who has approved a law aimed at protecting the rights of people with disabilities. The law will bring together all authorities concerned in Dubai to provide health care and therapeutic services for people with disabilities, in addition to providing educational opportunities that are equal to those provided to their peers.
Major-General Al Marri added that the GDRFA wants to ensure that its employees with disabilities work hand in hand with other employees.
