The five-day-long exhibition, which has some 50 A-2 and A-3 size photographs of various subjects from around the world, will be followed by a quarterly updated exhibition of about 150 photographs in the many public places, hallways and lobbies of buildings in the Media City.

"Dubai Media City is happy to host this stunning picture gallery that will display the photographs of Reuters photographers around the world," said Abdulhamid Juma, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Media City.

"Photography is a wonderful medium for artistic and creative expression and when it is combined with the immediacy of news, it becomes a wonderful medium for chronicling our times," he added.

The launching of the exhibition was attended in large numbers by several media industry leaders, and business partners of Dubai Media City among others.

"Reuters' news and pictures are used by over 70 million people through Reuters services to the media and financial markets as well as through our online reports available in over 1,400 web sites," commented Samir Sabbah, Reuters Head of Media, Middle East and Africa.

"We are very pleased to make the work of Reuters award-winning photographers available to Dubai Media City tenants and visitors," he added.

The displays at the pilot gallery, sponsored by Kodak, covers all fields of life including news, sport, entertainment, and fashion. While Iraq during and after the war was the highlight of news photographs, Sachin Tedulkar, Indian cricket's heart-throb, and David Beckham found space in the sports display section.

The breathtaking Aishwarya Rai at the recently concluded Cannes Film Festival and Nicole Kidman, and other film personalities also found a slot at the exhibition.

Reuters' acclaimed pictures capture events around the world as they happen, and its network of worldclass photographers delivers pictures to the world's media within a matter of minutes, direct from the action.

With over 800 pictures taken everyday, Reuters Pictures serve the visual communication needs of a wide range of businesses.

Its archive of over one million pictures is available online at www.reuters.com/pictures
