The surgery went on for almost three hours and the patient is doing well with no reported complications.

The patient, a 52-year-old male who had suffered extensive damage to his heart because of an acute Antiro-Ceptal Myocardial Infarction (ACMI) in 1995, came back recently with unstable Angina.

An angiogram was performed and showed that the patient had Triple Vessel Disease (TVD) with very poor Left Ventricular function, following which a bypass surgery was prescribed.

The cardio-thoracic team, which has performed over 4,000 open heart surgeries together all over the world, comprises cardiac surgeons Dr Roy Korula, Dr Vinayak Shukla and Dr Hari Krishna Doshi, together with cardiac anaesthetists Dr Lalitha Manickam, Dr Sara Thomas and Dr Monica Doshi and the team's perfusionist Mr Manohan.

The cardio-thoracic team were all happy to see the patient smiling and talking to his family after he was taken off the ventilator.
