The UAE’s Ministerial Development Council (MDC) has discussed a plan to reduce 50 per cent of federal government service centres and convert them into digital platforms within two years.

State news agency Wam reporter that as per the suggested plan, the first phase includes a total of 282 service centres. Out of these, 59 centres will be closed during the first quarter of 2021.

The remaining centres will be closed between 2021 and 2022 in a way that it does not affect services.
This came as the council met under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The digital transformation strategy was created based on a comprehensive evaluation that considers geographical distribution of the centres, capacity, level of demand, quality of digital transformation, and financial impact.
