Always look ahead, Mohammed tells Dubai officials

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has asked senior officials of Dubai to put aside what had been accomplished and to always look ahead in order to maintain and sustain UAE’s leading edge.

He was talking to directors and heads of local government departments at the Dubai Ruler’s Court on Sunday. The meeting discussed matters relating to development of government performance and enhancing public services to meet public expectations as per the highest internationally-recognised standards.

Shaikh Mohammed said that the financial and economic crises are but challenges that present opportunities to innovate and be creative. He asked the officials to champion and pioneer initiatives that catalyse and drive aggressive development in all aspects.

Shaikh Mohammed emphasised on the importance of facilitating legal and logistics procedures across Dubai departments and avoiding bureaucracy. He asked the heads of departments to personally go down to the field and deal with any deficiency or shortage on the spot.

Highlighting the continued efforts of the government departments to attain excellence, Shaikh Mohammed praised the initiatives of Dubai Police GHQ, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transportation Authority and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

Shaikh Mohammed urged heads of departments to focus on boosting the level of inter and intra-departmental cooperation and collaboration for the best interest of the peoples of the UAE and to preserve the well-established reputation the UAE has earned internationally. “We must rid ourselves of surrendering to the thought that something ‘cannot be done’... This drives despair. On the contrary, we all should wake up with the aim of championing bright ideas and working hard to turning them into creative initiatives,” Shaikh Mohammed reiterated.

Highlighting the significance of adopting creative initiatives, Shaikh Mohammed added: “Time management is of critical importance... and an element of sustained success.”
